So i just found out that we don't have to round tomorrow morning...that means I get to sleep in til 5:30! it feels like i just won the lottery. i wonder why the 4th year is being so nice. she has a mean reputation, but all of a sudden she's so nice.
so i'm going to stay up a little tonight and write.
i miss my parents. it seems like ages since i've seen them. i had a good weekend though. i cleaned the house a bit and watched a lot of Korean videos. it was relaxing. no studying, and even trying to not think too much, although i ended up thinking some. i did the laundry, try to tidy the pool up a little, went grocery shopping and made a nice meal. i even bought some flowers to keep me company.
i saw a few babies born today. i can't wait to have my own even after seeing the gore. how can something so beautiful come from something not so pretty.
i thought a little about life. it's hard not being selfish. it's hard being selfish too. i guess it's just plain hard sometimes. i wonder if it's ever okay to be selfish. i think when i'm being selfish, i'm trying to fill a void. and when i'm not being selfish, i let God fill a void. it's a struggle when my heart gets so confused when trying to be unselfish yet i end up being selfish. it seems at times impossible to be purely unselfish as much as i want to be.

catching babies
well, i haven't caught one yet, but i did deliver a placenta. it's my second day in OB. yesterday was unusually slow on Labor and Deliver 3W and the white board was only a quarter full. My team traded off scrubbing in for deliveries and so we each got to do only 1. So it made for a long slow day. But it's okay...we got to talk and get to know each other. I think I'm going to like this team. The med students are more laid back. today i only had to round, so that was nice. getting up at 4:30 am every morning for 3 weeks might wear me down, but the schedule for me is not so bad. i'm glad that i'm not a med student. they have to float at night and attend extra surgeries. i have another rounding day tomorrow, so i hope to get more errands done, exercise, and make myself a nice meal that I can have for the next few nights.
i'm feeling healthy these days. exercising, eating light, and getting rest. i'm learning a lot too.
today was sunny. i wanted to go for a walk, but it was too chilly. after a week of rain and sleet, it was refreshing to see the rays.
i hope i get to catch some newborns this week. seeing that Parkland delivers 17000 babies a year, surely i can say that i delievered a few of those at least.

beginning of the new year thoughts
i start this year with an unusual sense of peace and excitement
peace within and without
excitement of what is and what i hope for
a true desire to make this world a better place
a grateful heart for my family and friends
i finished my first week of ob gyn today
it was a good week
i suffered a little from jetlag
the ob/gyn program at UTSW is excellent
the lectures and the organization so far has been outstanding
there was a mixup with my placement for a gyn clinic
but after being at Lakewest Clinic with last minute notice
i'm so very grateful to be there
as always, things work out for the best
the NP's are so nice and patient
i'm getting good exposure to a variety gyn and ob pts
i do wish i knew spanish
i also get to where scrubs for the next 6 weeks!
i've done quite a few pelvic exams already and slowly feeling more comfortable
the clinic site is a bit far (s. dallas)
so on my commute back and forth, I witness the complete sunrise and the complete sunset
and i come home to my mother's cooking
oh how blessed is that whiff of smell as i walk in the garage door of dinner being prepared
the noise from the kitchen that is present all the time it seems is especially music to my ears when i come home
my mom makes me laugh
she's become so knowledgeable about basketball and the Dallas Mavericks
she's knows whose hurt, whose playing well, and whose struggling
she's knows the good players on the opposing team as well
i ask her what channel the game is on instead of looking it up on the internet or the paper
she loves to read
she's afraid to read a new book she has because she might not have a book to read after that
my dad
he makes me laugh too
he makes a big deal of even the smallest ailment
sometimes i think he makes it worse by giving it so much attention
but he watches it closely until it's all taken care of
he keeps asking me what he should do
most of the time i tell him to just leave it alone
but that's the one thing he has a hard time doing.
so all in all, a great start to the year
peace within and without
excitement of what is and what i hope for
a true desire to make this world a better place

trip to Korea
what a wonderful trip this was
i got to play with my nephews and that's really all they want...someone to play with them'
i got to ski again with Jonathan and my older brother...Thomas did not want to
i got to see all of my relatives again
meet my new sister in law who I am so thankful for
this trip has inspired me to pursue 2007 with a heart that desires very much to seek peace, joy, and grace
in the most truest of ways
in my relationships, pursuits, hopes
it was a blessing of a trip
on my way back, i was even surprised with an upgrade seat
that topped off an already perfect trip
